Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Brad Boney of Galveston to the Board of Pilot Commissioners for Galveston County for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. The board governs the piloting of vessels in Galveston County.

Boney is a mediator and public affairs consultant. He is a member of the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Galveston and West Galveston Island Property Owners Association. He is past publicity committee chair for the Central Houston Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association, board member of Gulf Coast Big Brothers Big Sisters, and a past member of the American Marketing Association.

Boney attended Bradley University and the University of Houston A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center.

Editor's note: Boney will replace Jim Toupes, who resigned last year.  Vandy Anderson remains chair of the commission.  (Correct)
