Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Crime Stoppers Council

Austin, Texas - Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the Crime Stoppers Council for terms to expire Sept. 1, 2016. The council assists in the creation of Crime Stoppers organizations across the state to help local law enforcement agencies combat crime.

Jorge Gaytan of Houston is an officer for the City of Houston Police Department. He is a certified Field Training Instructor, Field Performance Evaluator and Instructor for the Officer Safety Awareness Unit of the Houston Police Department Training Academy, and is a member of the Houston Police Hostage Negotiation Team. He is also a member of the National Association of Field Training Officers and a past member of the International Association of Hostage Negotiators. Gaytan is being reappointed to the council.

Emerson F. Lane Jr. of Beaumont is a process and systems manager for Chemtrade Logistics. He is a member of the National and Texas societies of Professional Engineers and a board member of Beaumont Crime Stoppers. He is also a past chairman and a former board member of Calhoun County Crime Stoppers Inc., and is also a past board member of the Calhoun County YMCA, Calhoun County Appraisal District, the Port Lavaca Main Street Theatre, and Calhoun County Parks and Recreation Board of Trustees. Lane received a bachelor's degree from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston at Victoria. He is being reappointed.

Ernesto Rodriguez, Jr. of McAllen is vice president of the McAllen Crime Stoppers Inc. He is a graduate of the McAllen Citizens Police Academy, a life member of the University of Texas Alumni Association and Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, and a volunteer cub scout leader for the McAllen Boy Scouts of America. He is also past president of the Texas Newspaper Advertising Mangers Association and a graduate of Leadership McAllen. Rodriguez received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas.
