Sunday, September 23, 2012

Multiple fire departments from across the region and state will be participating in the funeral of fallen Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department Captain Neal Smith, which takes place Monday, September 24th.  Captain Smith passed early this week after a training incident in Beaumont, Texas.

Approximately 150 fire apparatus will move through various staging areas in the region as they proceed to the funeral location.

Negligible traffic impact during the early Monday morning commute is expected on area highways.  Convoys will arrive at their final funeral staging area in Humble by 6:30 a.m.

Residents should not be alarmed by the increased number of fire apparatus from multiple departments travelling in convoys.

The staging locations and routes of these fire apparatus convoys are available at http://www.hcfmo.net/Press/2012_09_21_Smith.pdf.
