Girls Movie Night
GALVESTON, TX – Girls Movie Night featuring a private screening of Sex and The City 1, will be Thursday, October 17, 6 pm, at Island ETC, 2317 Mechanic.
Presented by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, Girls Movie Night is casual fun and presents the opportunity to see the popular contemporary film written by Candace Bushnell, keynote speaker for the 6th Annual Conference Celebrating Women: Mind, Body and Spirit, to be held April 5, 2013, at Moody Gardens Convention Center.
Candace Bushnell, author and columnist based in New York City, is best known for writing a column that was anthologized in a book, Sex and the City, which in turn became the basis for a popular television series and subsequent film adaptations. Her work has influenced and defined two generations of women. Among her awards are the prestigious Matrix Awards for Books and the Albert Einstein Spirit of Achievement Award.
Cost for the evening is $20 per person and includes the screening, refreshments and camaraderie. Candace Bushnell will not attend the screening, but will appear at the Conference in 2013. Those attending the film are encouraged to dress as their favorite character from the blockbuster HBO series, and be prepared to enjoy an evening of laughter. Advance ticket purchase is advised as seating is limited. Tickets sold at the door.
Conference organizers will be collecting ladies gently worn clothing, beginning at Girls Movie Night, to establish Career Boutique for deserving women. If not attending Movie Night, clothes in good condition may be dropped at the Galveston Chamber of Commerce offices at 2228 Mechanic, Suite 101, through April 1, 2013.
