Mayor Appoints J.T. Edwards to Galveston Housing Authority Board
Lifelong Galvestonian Brings Experience to GHA
GALVESTON, Texas – Mayor Lewis Rosen announced his appointment of J.T. Edwards to the Board of the Galveston Housing Authority. Edwards will succeed Commissioner Betty Massey.
J.T. Edwards is a lifelong Galvestonian and 1988 alumni of George S. Ball High School. He was a frequent attendee of American University (Latin American Intelligence Studies). After 10 years of active duty service in the United States Army as a Satellite Imagery and Intelligence Analyst / Indications and Warnings Specialist, Edwards returned to the island.
Edwards has served the City of Galveston and Galveston County in various capacities. He sat on the Galveston Historical Foundation Board of Advisors and served two terms on the City of Galveston's Building and Standards Commission with an emphasis on blight removal and community clean-up. He also presently serves as a Galveston County Republican Party Chairman - Precinct 106 and Secretary of the Galveston Island Pachyderm Club. Edwards is the Vice-Chair of the Galveston County Republican Party's Minority Outreach Committee. Edwards is currently employed as Senior Information Technology Solutions Expert and Managing Consultant at Automatic IT Corporation.
The vision of the Galveston Housing Authority is to use its resources to create and strengthen inclusive, healthy and sustainable neighborhoods in the City of Galveston by providing high quality, affordable housing choices and by empowering low income families, the elderly and disabled in their journeys toward self-sufficient lives.
