Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to grant hotel occupancy tax allocations requests as recommended by the Jefferson County Tourism Committee.

A total of 20 requests for allocations were made for a total of $775,212.  The county granted allocations totaling $223,231.

The largest request was made for the Ford Park Event Center for FY2013. A total of $106,900 was requested, with the county granting $80,900.

The county allocated a full request of $62,411 to the Jefferson County Convention and Visitor Bureaus for the 2013/2014 Regional Visitors Guide for the county.  Jefferson County also received $30,000 for the Southeast Texas Coalition for Air Service, LLC, to place in the air service revenue guarantee in order for American Airlines to provide flights from Jack Brooks Regional Airport to Dallas/Fort Worth.  Allocations Sheet

The commissioners court voted to approve a $861,895 contract with Maguire Iron, Inc. for a proposed 200,000 gallon elevated water storage tank for the City of Hamshire.

The contract includes a $12,775 additional proposal for the asphalt driveway to the storage tank site.  The contract will be funded through the Round 1 Texas Department of Rural Affairs Grant administered by the Texas General Land Office.

The commissioners court voted to approve specifications for a request for proposals associated with inmate health care services for the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

The commissioners court voted to approve the 2013 county holidays.

The commissioners court issued several proclamations during the meeting, including:

  • A proclamation declaring October as Italian History Month
  • A proclamation for National Disability Month
  • A proclamation for the American Heart Association

All items were approved with exception of adoption of a burn ban order, which was tabled.  All votes were unanimous with all members present.  Agenda
