Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to authorize a one-year, $105,000 contract with the Southeast Texas Arts Council.
The funds for the contract come from hotel occupancy taxes the city collects.
“The city contracts with the Southeast Texas Arts Council to utilize 80 percent of its contract payment for production of the magazine ‘Off Ramp’ highlighting local events and ‘Tear Off’ attraction maps for distribution to hotels, as well as other programs and exhibitions that bring artists to the area and promote the rich musical heritage of the area,” City Manager Kyle Hayes said. “The remaining 20 percent is used for operating expenses.”
The city council voted to authorize a one-year, $185,000 contract with the Art Museum of Southeast Texas for the operation of the art museum. The Art Museum of Southeast Texas leases a building from the city for use as the museum. A total of $85,000 of the contract will be paid through the city’s hotel occupancy tax, with the remaining $100,000 being paid through the General Fund.
The city council voted to authorize a one-year, $95,000 contract with the Texas Energy Museum for the museum’s operations.
The funds also come from the city’s hotel occupancy tax.
The city council voted to approve a $104,275 contract with Club Car, Inc. for the purchase of 25 golf carts for use at the Henry Homberg Golf Course.
The city council voted to accept funding from the Texas Department of State Health Services for the Beaumont Public Health Department’s Women, Infants and Children Division.
The city will receive $379,519 for the program to provide nutrition education and supplemental food program for pregnant and post-partum women.
