Port Freeport Interim Executive Director Phyllis Saathoff, who had been a candidate to replace former executive director Pete Reixach who recently retired, has announced that she is no longer a candidate for the position and she is resigning from the port.
Bill Terry, chair of the port commission, said a search is being conducted for a new executive director, but for the time being, duties of the CEO will be divided among department heads. Listen
“We have a search going on through a professional,” Terry said. “In fact, we have a meeting on Saturday morning for interviewing people for the job.”
Terry said he hopes to fill the position within the next 60 to 90 days because there are a number of projects in the works.
“We’ve got a lot of business that’s in the making for different projects,” he said. “Of course, we’re still ongoing with LNG.”
He said that confidentiality agreements have been signed with four major companies for projects that are coming up.
“We are working with the railroad to get more production out of UP (Union Pacific) and they’ve installed a new bridge across the Brazos River,” he said. “So we have a lot of additional good business that will be ongoing.”
Terry said the new CEO will have those projects to deal with when a selection is made.
