Pasadena City Council on Tuesday voted 8-1 with Ornaldo Ybarra opposed, to adopt, on first and final reading, a property tax rate of $0.591593 per $100 valuation for 2012.

Mayor Johnny Isbell said there is no tax increase involved in the tax rate.  The rate is the same as that adopted in 2011.

Council Member Don Harrison said he appreciated that the tax rate will remain at the same level.

The city council voted 6-3, with Ybarra, Harrison and Pat Van Houte opposed, to accept the report of the Council Committee on Public Transit.

Isbell said the vote on the item was not a vote on the bus service, but a vote to accept the report only.

The city council voted unanimously to accept a $4,390,000 grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security under the FY2012 Port Security Grant Program.

The city council voted 8-1, with Van Houte opposed, to approve the final reading of an ordinance providing regulations of the use of golf carts in the city.

The cty council voted 8-0-1, with Leroy Stanley abstaining, to approve the final reading of an agreement with Sarah's House for the disbursement of Emergency Solutions Grant funds for equipment needed for the shelter.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on final reading, a $1,989,617 contract with SER Construction Partners, LLC for the Gulfport Industrial District Utility Improvements project. The contract total includes a five percent contingency.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on final reading, a $37,976 contract with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. for engineering services for the Vince Street Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
