Suspects Apprehended in Robbery
Two suspects are in custody in connection with a robbery that occurred this morning at the University of Houston. There were no injuries in the incident.
The robbery of the store clerk occurred at about 9:30 a.m. today (Oct. 8). Police said the suspect was driving an F-150 truck that had been stolen in La Marque. He allegedly drove to the campus, entered the store and demanded money.
The suspect then drove away from campus, according to UH Police Chief Ceaser Moore. Police located the vehicle at about 11:30 a.m. at the Red Carpet Inn, 6161 Gulf Freeway, Moore said.
The suspect sped away on Interstate 45, before exiting the vehicle and running away on foot, Moore said. A passenger remained in the vehicle and was apprehended, he said.
The suspect then allegedly carjacked another vehicle, fled the scene and remains at large, according to police. Acting on a tip, police later returned to the Red Carpet Inn, where they arrested a third person believed to be involved in the case.
Charges in the incident are pending.
