Nassau Bay City Council on Monday voted 6-1, with Brad Bailey opposed, to adopt a property tax rate of $0.732120 per $100 valuation for 2012.
The rate is 0.22 percent less than the effective tax rate of $0.733702 per $100 valuation, which would provide revenues equal to the previous fiscal year.
A public hearing was held prior to the adoption of the tax rate.
The city council voted unanimously to approve a contract with James Lee Witt Associates for disaster recovery services. The contract carries no cost unless the firm provides services following a disaster at the city.
The city council voted 6-0-1, with Jonathan Amdur abstaining, to adopt a Section 3 Plan to comply with the Housing and Urban Development Act. The plan is required in order to receive Community Development Block Grant funding for disaster recovery projects.
The city council voted unanimously to confirm the appointment of Leticia Garza as a voting member of the Bay Area Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau. Garza, general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott hotel, replaces Mark Denman on the board.
The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Cammy Shay, Louis Nguyen, Marilyn Musial and James Locke, and to appoint Jerry Boswell to the Parks Committee.
