Santa Fe City Council on Thursday voted unanimously to appoint an eight-member Public Safety Building Committee to study options and provide recommendations for a new facility for the police department.
Appointed to the committee were Lynn Weems, Paul Tibaldo, Frank Corsaro, Robert Breaking, Matthew Driscoll, Barbara Balli, Larry Griswold and Johnny Roberts.
“Everybody agrees that we need a new police building, and the price is the problem,” City Manager Joe Dickson said. “So we're going to take a look at either how to build a new one, or if we want to purchase the old fire station. The fire department is building a new building, and we're looking at maybe buying that one and remodeling it.”
The city council voted unanimously to name Roberts as chair of the committee.
The city council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with Cambiano and Cambiano, PC for financial audit services for the FY2012 audit.
The city council voted 3-1, with Pat McCrary opposed, to approve the first reading of a zoning change request for 0.514 acres of property at 4006 and 4008 FM 646 North.
The property is being reclassified from a Single Family Residential District to a Neighborhood Commercial District.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Joe Carothers was absent. Agenda
