The La Marque Independent School District Board of Trustees on Thursday voted unanimously to approve an election services contract with Galveston County for the school district's December 15 tax ratification election.
Early voting for the election will be held November 28 through December 11 on weekdays.
The board voted unanimously to approve payment to the Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Insurance Fund for unemployment compensation claims.
The invoice for the payment is $124,416, reduced from the 2011-2012 payment of $155,520.
The board voted unanimously to approve membership in the PACE Purchasing Cooperative in Educational Service Center Region 13 and 2.
The membership provides purchasing services, offering lower-cost products and services through the cooperative contracts.
The board voted unanimously to schedule January and July as months for the evaluation of Superintendent Ecomet Burley. The item was discussed during an executive session.
The school board voted unanimously to approve hiring of personnel as discussed during an executive session.
The board also met in closed session to discuss legal matters, issues regarding real estate, and a Level III Grievance filed by a parent in the district. No action was taken on those items.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Board members Edward Jones and Shirley Fanuiel were absent. Agenda
