Planned Water Outage Friday Night
The previous notice had an incorrect date. This outage will take place on Friday, October 12, 2012.
The City continues to upgrade and improve our water distribution system. In that process it is necessary to disrupt service to install a key component this week.
A new automatic valve is being installed in the line between our water tower and the booster station at Water Plant #2 on Bayou Forest. This valve will work together with Water Plant #1 (being rebuilt on Shore Acres Blvd) in the future to allow the City's normal water service pressure to be increased.
During the installation, we will be unable to supply water to your home or business. To minimize the impact of this outage the work is scheduled to take place when our water demands are very low.
The planned outage is scheduled to begin at, or shortly after, 11:00 p.m. Friday night. Water service should be restored early Saturday morning at, or around, 5:30 a.m.
To facilitate this installation the city has hired a utility contractor to work with the city's utility crew. Together we should be able to timely completion.
Please prepare for you water needs during this time. Fill containers before Friday evening to provide for drinking water and water that may be required to flush toilets.
The city will work hard to restore service as soon as possible.
