Pasadena City Council last week voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, a grant contract with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Division of Emergency Management for a $318,040 grant through the 2012 Urban Area Security Initiative under the Homeland Security Grant Program.
The grant will be administered by the city’s Emergency Management Department.
The city council deferred action regarding the first reading of a $99,900 contract with Berg Oliver Associates, Inc. for environmental review services as required by the National Parks Service related to the city’s municipal golf course.
The city council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, a $24,930 contract with Velez Construction Services for the demolition of nine structures.
Council Member Pat Van Houte discussed vacant houses, and said the city needs “a program to deal with vacant properties sooner”.
The city council voted unanimously to ratify Mayor Johnny Isbell’s appointment of Mark Benoit, Sherrel Brantley, Jimmy Harris and Victor Villarreal to the Suspension Appeals Board.
The city council voted unanimously to approve, on final reading, a contract with Graphic Packaging International, Inc. for the purchase of paper refuse bags for a one-year period.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
