Attempted Kidnapping

League City - On 10/24/2012 at 4:45pm the League City Police Department received a call of an attempted kidnapping in the 200 blk of South Egret Bay Blvd.

The mother of the one year old child was sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot of Krogers waiting on her husband to exit the store. As she was waiting the suspect, Melany James (08/02/1961), approached the vehicle and attempted to take the child from the mother.

A witness observed what was occurring and subdued James until police arrived shortly thereafter.

James was placed in custody and charged with Attempted Kidnapping and given a $20,000 bond. The mother of the child sustained scratches to her face and back. She was treated at the scene by EMS.

For any further questions contact Sgt. Jordan at 281-338-8207.
