The West Gulf Maritime Association on Wednesday hosted a reception for A. J. “Pete” Reixach, Jr., who recently retired as executive director of Port Freeport.
“We are here to honor and say some things about our good friend Pete Reixach,” said Niels Aalund, senior vice president of Maritime Affairs at the WGMA, noting that Reixach served 26 years as port director. Listen
“Can you imagine all the changes in all those years, and all the port commissioners that come and go, and carriers, and ups and downs and cycles, and different administrations and governors, and all of that stuff. You’ve seen it all.”
Several of Riexach's friends and associates made comments about his tenure as port director and his impact on the maritime industry.
“I’ve had a good run down in Freeport,” Reixach said. “It’s been a lot of fun. I’ve met a lot of good people – there are a lot of good people in here today. It’s something that I will always cherish.”
