Friday, October 26, 2012

Jefferson County Commissioners Court, in an emergency meeting on Thursday, voted unanimously to submit a Texas Community Development Block Grant Program application to the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Community Development Fund.

The Community Development Fund is the largest fund category in the community development block grant program, the fund is available on a biennial basis through competition in each of the state's 24 planning regions, according to Texas Department of Agriculture web site.

The funds are mostly used for public facilities, such as water and wastewater infrastructure, street and drainage improvements and housing activities.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to execute a statutory checklist, environmental assessment and request for release of funds and certification regarding the Cheek Sewer Project through the Department of Housing and Urban Development Grant Contract.

No other action items were on the agenda. Commissioner Eddie Arnold was absent.  Agenda
