by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, December 18, 2012

The Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to award a $3,627,441 contract to Layer 3 for upgrades to the district’s wireless network infrastructure.

“This project is necessary to refresh our existing wireless network and network infrastructure equipment to prepare for a dense deployment of mobile devices with network access,” Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith said.

The board voted to award an $86,523 contract to Carrier Corporation for the replacement of a damaged chiller at Parr Elementary.

The board voted to name Rupert Jaso as assistant principal of Clear Creek High School.  Jaso was most recently a physical education and health teacher at Clear Lake High School.

The board voted to approve an interlocal agreement with Region XI for distribution of Discovery Education’s streaming media library.

“Discovery Streaming offers a breadth and depth of digital media content that is immersive, engaging, and brings the world into the classroom to give every student a chance to experience fascinating people, places, and events,” Smith said.  “All content is aligned to state standards and supports classroom instruction regardless of the technology platform. The digital media library service transitions the classroom to a 21st century environment, Discovery Education offers real-time assessment services and a variety of professional development to ensure effective implementation in the classroom. In addition there are free lesson plans and materials.”

All items were approved.  All votes were unanimous with all members present.  Agenda
