Rose Mary (Magliolo) Hanson

Rose Mary Magliolo HansonRose Mary Magliolo Hanson, 96, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Regent Care Center in League City, TX. She was born August 24, 1916, in Galveston, TX, to Salvadore and Giovanna Magliolo.  Rose graduated from Ball High School in 1936 and worked in the Actuary Department at American National Insurance Company. After raising her family, she worked part-time in a number of gift shops on the island.  Rose was also an active volunteer in the community, lending a hand with Meals on Wheels, Grace Episcopal Thrift Shop, Our Daily Bread, the quilting group at Central Christian Church, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  She enjoyed sewing, working in her yard, and upholstery.

 

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold;her sister, Ursula Arena; and her brothers, Freddy and Joe Magliolo.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Nash and husband, John, of Dickinson; sister, Mary Elizabeth Napoli, of Friendswood; sister, Grace Marie Brick, of Galveston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose had an extended family, Quinnten, Camille and Lilly Crow.

 

Rose’s family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 am, Monday, April 22nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A funeral service will begin at 10:30 am at the funeral home with burial following at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

 

The family wishes to thank Regent Care Center for the care and kindness given to Rose.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Quinnten Crow, W.J. Brick, Roy Napoli, Sr., Jerry Magliolo, Alfred Magliolo, L. J. Napoli, David Napoli, Donald Hanson, Ronald Hanson, Roy Napoli, Jr., Troy Napoli, Mark Napoli, Smitty Michael Hill, John Jessen, Gene Crow, and David Sickler.
