Monday, November 25, 2013

The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners today voted unanimously to amend the port’s stevedoring franchise policy to include a category for liquid bulk only franchises to accommodate the port’s new Orange County crude oil terminal.

“We had dry bulk only, and a general cargo and dry bulk stevedore franchise, but we did not have a liquid bulk category,” Port Director and CEO Chris Fisher said. Listen (2:34)

The board voted to grant a stevedore franchise, under the new liquid bulk only category, for Trans-Global Solutions, Inc. Trans-Global Solutions will provide stevedore services for operating the Orange County terminal for Jefferson Refinery, the terminal’s owner.

The board approved the minutes of the November 11 special meeting.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present. Agenda

Prior to the meeting, the board held a public hearing to receive public comments concerning the possible establishment of Transportation Reinvestment Zone No. 1. Public Hearing Agenda

The board heard a presentation from the port’s special counsel, Darrick Eugene & Associates, concerning the proposed reinvestment zone. No members of the public requested to address the matter during the hearing.
