Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to award a $597,000 contract to GADV, Inc., doing business as L&L General Contractors of Beaumont for the construction of an equipment storage building at the Henry Homberg Golf Course in Tyrrell Park.

The project includes the construction of a 10,000 square foot building to replace an existing 3,000 square foot building currently on the site.

“The proposed building will provide space for storing 60 golf carts, tractors and mowing equipment,” City Manager Kyle Hayes said. “It also includes a small staff break room and restroom.”

The building will also include electrical outlets for charging golf cart batteries.

The city council voted to approve the purchase of 3.2732 acres of property in the 300 block of Neches Street from Tidelands Specialty, Ltd. for a total of $462,000.

The property is situated between the Event Centre and the Beautiful Mountain Skate Plaza, and will be used for the construction of a new senior center to replace the Best Year’s Center.

The city council voted to appoint Kelli Maness to the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Maness will fill the unexpired term of Bob Harris.

The city council voted to reappoint Jon Reaud and David Mulcahy, and appoint Muhammad Tahir Javed to the Community Development Advisory Committee. Reaud was reappointed as chair of the committee.

The city council voted to reappoint Judy Linsley, Dohn LaBiche and Jef Russell, III to the Historic Landmark Commission.

The city council voted to reappoint Mercy Cook to the Library Commission.

The grant has been increased from $87,135 due to a restoration of funds by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The grant assists the health department in performing activities and services to improve or strengthen local public health infrastructure.

All items approved. All votes were unanimous with council members Jamie Smith and Dr. Alan Coleman absent.  Agenda

The city council postponed holding a work session to review and discuss senior citizen rates at the Henry Homberg Golf Course.
