BAY AREA HOUSTON IDOL – 2014
News Release
Thursday, February 20, 2014

KEMAH, TEXAS: On February 18, Bay Area Houston Idol crowned their 2014 winners to a standing-room-only packed crowd at Jackie’s Brickhouse. The winners are:
  • First Place: Ashley Hennessy whose prizes include: $1000, a feature article to be published in The Scene Magazine, an electronic press kit, and a tour of Bay Area Houston.
  • Second Place: James. A. Williams, Jr., who won $500.
  • Third Place: Morena Roas, who won $250.

During five weeks of competition, 90 contestants initially competed for the crown, which resulted in 30 performers making it to the semi-finals. Ten ultimately advanced to the finals.

Finalists were asked to perform two vocals not previously sung and were not allowed to use a teleprompter.

The 10 talented finalists were judged on voice, pitch, presence and entertainment factor. They all did an amazing job, and choosing the winners was most difficult.

Judges were: Kelly Williams, vocalist and executive producer for Miss Kemah Pageant; Justin Van Sant, singer/songwriter who was named Best Country Act of 2012 and 2013 by The Houston Press; and Dave Morales, co-owner and writer for BackstageOL.com, on-air personality at 104.1 KRBE, and featured entertainment contributor on Fox 26.

Congratulations to these deserving winners!
