NASA Legend Gene Kranz Endorses Dr. Brian Babin, Congressional Candidate TX-36
Nassau Bay, Texas –Gene Kranz, renowned space hero and former NASA flight director, including for the Apollo 13 mission, announced his endorsement today of Dr. Brian Babin, congressional candidate for Texas’ 36th district.
Gene Kranz and Brian Babin appeared together today at the Space Walk Sculpture Garden across from the Johnson Space Center to announce Mr. Kranz’s endorsement of Dr. Babin.
"It is long past time for Houston industry leaders and elected officials to step up and proactively protect the Johnson Space Center's irreplaceable assets, most notably, the capable and highly experienced workforce that has made our Center a leader in human space flight for decades,” Kranz said.
“This action starts with strong, active leadership here and in Washington DC,” Kranz continued. “I firmly believe Dr. Brian Babin is committed to NASA and the space industry and will work hard to maintain the Johnson Space Center as the leader in space operations, engineering and science - critical capabilities NASA needs to succeed in accomplishing great new exploration missions," said Kranz.
Gene Kranz served as NASA Flight Director during the Gemini and Apollo programs, and directed the successful Mission Control team efforts to save the crew of Apollo 13. Kranz is one of the most prominent leaders in the history of U.S. manned space exploration, and a living embodiment of the NASA spirit: “failure is not an option.” He has been portrayed in movies, and featured in numerous documentaries, books and publications. Kranz is a recipient of a Presidential Medal of Freedom and is one of the most popular and prominent space heroes of all-time.
“It is a deep honor to have Gene Kranz, a living legend and leader for NASA and manned space flight, support me for Congress,” said Babin. "Gene Kranz knows I am the only candidate in this race who will champion our space program and provide NASA with the necessary resources to preserve American supremacy in space exploration,” said Babin.
