BARC Participating in National No Kill "Just One Day" June 11
BARC celebrating national "Just One Day" event with sponsored adoptions
for the first 25 PurrFurred pets adopted

HOUSTON - Today, BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions will join numerous animal shelters and organizations across the U.S. for the national no kill “Just One Day” event. BARC will not euthanize any animals that can be saved. This is the third year in a row that BARC has participated in this event.

“The 'Just One Day' event is a great day to engage Houstonians in the effort to save more lives,” said Ashtyn Rivet, BARC Marketing and Outreach Lead. “This is an opportunity to take part in something big. It's a chance to come together to save animals' lives in our community.  Come and meet many animals at BARC that are looking for forever homes.”

BARC is celebrating the national no kill "Just One Day" event with a rare adoption special.  Proler Southwest/Sims Metal Management is generously sponsoring adoption fees for the first 25 PurrFurred pet adoptions at BARC. PurrFurred pets are dogs and cats that have been at BARC for more than 20 days. The adoption package includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a one-year City pet license and a pre-registered microchip with lifetime registration. To learn more about the BARC adoption process including basic eligibility requirements, please visit our "About Adopting at BARC" web page. View all BARC animals available for adoption and regular adoption fees on the "Adopt a Pet" page at

"Just One Day” unites BARC with numerous other organizations across the nation who want to see every homeless pet find a home. According to the “Just One Day” website, more than 10,000 animals across the nation could be saved on June 11. At BARC, more than 50 will be saved.

BARC is dedicated to a live-release initiative. Staff and volunteers work constantly to improve all operations in order to save more of Houston's homeless animals. Read about BARC's numerous programs  designed to give every healthy or treatable pet an opportunity to find a new home by visiting To get involved in BARC's adoption, fostervolunteer, or rescue partner initiatives, please visit

The national event is not just about putting a stop to euthanizations for a day. It's also about placing shelter animals across Houston, and across the nation, into permanent homes. BARC encourages all Houstonians to get the word out about its participation in the "Just One Day" event and get others involved in the effort to save lives by telling their friends and colleagues about BARC's adoption, foster, rescue, and volunteer programs.

BARC, located at 3200 Carr Street, Houston, 77026, is open for adoptions Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday-Sunday from noon to 5:30 p.m.
