Monday, June 23, 2014

The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners today voted unanimously to authorize Port Director Chris Fisher to negotiate a tax abatement agreement with Oiltanking Beaumont Partners, LP.

Jefferson County Commissioners Court is considering the item at its meeting today. Fisher said the abatement’s terms would pattern after the county’s agreement.

“Oiltanking is expanding their facility in the Beaumont area,” Fisher said. “They are an oil and petroleum products storage tanking facility. They are making a considerable expansion, approximately $200 million expansion, in the Beaumont area.” Listen (4:48)

The board voted to ratify emergency repairs completed to the Docks No. 2 and No. 3, which included removal of a 60-ton gantry crane from the docks. The cost of the repairs totaled $200,631.

The board voted to award the bid for the sale of a Clyde 60-ton Gantry Crane to Gulf Copper Dry Dock of Galveston, in the amount of $120,000.

The board voted unanimously to approve a one-year marketing and development agreement with Jefferson Energy, parent company of Port of Beaumont Petroleum Transload Terminal III, LLC for an approximately 30-acre tract in Orange County.

The agreement will allow Jefferson Energy to develop and market that property.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Commissioner Bill Darling absent. Agenda
