Bible Convention Off To Exciting Start!

HOUSTON — The nearly 30,000 in attendance for Friday morning’s program of the “Keep Seeking First God’s Kingdom” International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses excitedly applauded the release of a new tract entitled “What is God’s Kingdom?” The tract considers whether the Kingdom discussed in the Bible is found in one’s heart, is something purely symbolical, or is a real government that will rule from heaven.

The tract was released during keynote speaker Geoffrey Jackson’s talk, “Highly Esteem Present Kingdom Blessings”; Jackson’s talk was simulcast at 6 other convention sites in California, Arizona, and Oregon.  The afternoon program saw the release of two 32-page brochures, entitled “Teach Your Children” and “Your Family Can Be Happy.”  Friday’s program also featured a stirring Bible-based play, which developed the theme: “Do Not Give the Devil an Opportunity.”  The play imparted practical advice on the importance of maintaining love and harmony within the Christian congregation.  One enthusiastic attendee remarked, “I feel that this play was created just for me!  I’m so thankful for these reminders.  We need them so much.”

The convention continues today and will conclude tomorrow, Sunday the 22nd.  This weekend’s program is being presented in Spanish and is open to the public.  Admission is free and no collections are ever taken.  Links to audio, video, and photo content from yesterday’s program are available at: ftp://jwhouston.synology.me.
