The Galveston Intermodal Transportation Committee next week will have its first meeting since Galveston City Council appointed new members.
Using a new procedure that allows each member of the city council to make appointments, the new members are Janet Hoffman, appointed by Mayor Jim Yarbrough; Paul Schnitger, appointed by Craig Brown; Clyde Wood, appointed by Ralph McMorris; Addie Pappous, appointed by Terrilyn Tarlton; and Leonce Hank Thierry, appointed by Carolyn Sunseri. Jeff Brown, who represents Tarris Woods’ District 1, and Lesley Sommer, who represents Norman Pappous’ District 4 are term limited and will be replaced at a later date.
Pappous is the non-voting ex-officio representative of the city council on the committee.
The meeting will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21 in Room 204 of Galveston City Hall. Agenda
“At the meeting, newly appointed members of the ITC will assume their roles as members of the committee,” said Andrew Gallagher of the city staff, who sent notice of the meeting to the members. “I have extended an invitation to the previous members of the committee so they can officially act on the minutes of the last two meetings that were held.”
The committee, which provides oversight for the Galveston Livable Communities Initiative, had been targeted for “sunset” by Mayor Yarbrough; but after an appeal by Kathy Modzelewski and others, he and other members of the city council agreed to keep the committee active, and assigned it to prioritize projects on an existing list of mobility improvements.
