Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department Saves Dog at House Fire

Friendswood,Texas - Firefighters and Medics from the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department successfully resuscitated a 4-year-old Schnauzer they discovered during the search of a house following a fire in Friendswood Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters quickly removed the dog from the house on Dunbar Estates and began life-saving efforts, including administering oxygen using a pet oxygen kit. After several minutes the dog regained consciousness.

Firefighters and medics cared for him and transported him to a local veterinarian for further treatment. Fire officials said at last check the dog was recovering very well.

In October 2014 The Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department EMS Division purchased the Wagn'N O2 Fur Life kits and placed them on all Friendswood Ambulances and EMS Supervisor vehicles.

Wagn'N O2 Fur Life was established in 2008 and has been providing these kits to fire departments. The kits cost around $90 and contain specially designed animal oxygen masks and other materials that aid firefighters and medics when they encounter a conscious or unconscious pet.
