Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners
by Garrett Bryce
Monday, September 28, 2015

The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners today voted unanimously to renew the port’s employee health insurance coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.

The renewal includes a premium increase of approximately 18.5 percent, according to Port Director & CEO Chris Fisher. The port pays 90 percent of premiums for employees, and 80 percent for dependents.

The board voted unanimously to amend lease agreements with Jefferson Railport I, LLC, Jefferson Railport II, LLC, and Jefferson Terminal Logistics, LLC to extend leases of the port’s property with each of the companies from 30 years to a total of 50 years.

“They kind of work in conjunction with each other, there are a little different type of cargo activities that go on within each lease, but they’re pretty much work together as a full build-out system on our Orange County Terminal,” Fisher said. Listen (3:27)

Fisher noted that the lease helps promote further investment in the port’s Orange County property.

The board held an executive session to discuss matters related to future expansion on the Orange County terminal. No action was taken on the item.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
