Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 8900 Sharpcrest

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a female found at 8900 Sharpcrest about 7:10 a.m. on Thursday (February 16).

The identity of the victim, between 15 and 19 years of age, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Turner and Detective M. Waters II reported:

A witness was driving his children to school when he saw the victim lying against the curb near the above address.  Believing the female had been struck by a car, the witness stopped to give medical assistance.  The witness then realized the female had been shot.

Investigators initially believed the victim was shot at another location and then left on Sharpcrest.  However, other witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the 5 a.m. hour in the area where the victim was found.

At this time, there is no known motive nor suspect(s).

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
