The Houston-Galveston Area Council Transportation Policy Council on Friday voted unanimously to approve changes in functional classifications for regional roadways.

These changes involve re-designating Smith Ranch Road in Brazoria County from a Local to a Major Collector between FM 518 to Hughes Ranch Road and Country Place Parkway, also in Brazoria County, from a Local to a Major Collector between Hughes Ranch Road and FM 2234. Listen (2:21) Item Summary

“When combined, these two facilities offer significant north-south movement and really function more as a collector rather as a local street,” said Chris Van Slyke, H-GAC Program Manager.

The policy council voted unanimously to approve the nomination of Jeremy Phillips to fill the vacancy for Intermodal Interests Alternate Member on the H-GAC Technical Advisory Committee.

The policy council voted unanimously to express support for the proposed Texas Clear Lanes and Connectivity Funding Partnership.

All other items were approved unanimously.
