Houston police are investigating incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Sunday's fatal shooting of a woman at 415 West Little York.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 415 West Little York

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman at 415 West Little York about 2:55 a.m. on Sunday (March 19).

The victim, Essence Derouen, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective J. Roscoe reported:

Ms. Derouen was alone and sitting in her vehicle, waiting for traffic to clear after the Club Panda closed, when an unknown black male suspect wearing white pants and a blue shirt approached her vehicle and started firing shots.  Derouen was fatally struck and the suspect fled in a light colored, four-door Buick.  It is believed Derouen was not the intended target.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 103 West Parker

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 103 West Parker Road at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday (March 19).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Thomas and Officer R. Singleton reported:

The victim was operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed westbound on West Parker Road and attempted to drive on the white stripe separating the westbound and eastbound lanes to pass two vehicles.  As the victim passed the vehicles, a black Scion TC, traveling eastbound on Parker, made a left hand turn into an apartment complex.  As the driver turned to cross the westbound lanes, the victim struck the Scion, and was ejected from the motorcycle.  The motorcycle then caught fire.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.   The driver of the Scion was not injured. 

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4100 Gulf Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4100 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 4:50 a.m. on Sunday (March 19).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer T. Fowls reported:

The victim was driving a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound at the above address while a second driver in a gray Infiniti G37 was traveling eastbound on Cullen Boulevard.  The vehicles collided in the intersection, ejecting the driver of the F-150 truck.  Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.  The driver of the Infiniti was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and was to provide a blood draw.

The investigation is continuing.

Fatal Crash at 3200 Almeda Genoa

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3200 Almeda Genoa about 1:25 a.m. on Saturday (March 18).

The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Thomas and Officer Rivera reported:

An 18-wheeler was stopped and waiting for a gate to open to turn into a private drive when it was struck from behind by a red Volvo 670 driven by the victim, who failed to control her speed.  Paramedics pronounced the female driver dead at the scene.  The driver of the 18-wheeler did not show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Man Found Deceased at 9215 Willow Meadow

Houston police are investigating the apparent fatal stabbing of a man found at 9215 Willow Meadow about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday (March 18).

The identity of the victim, 53, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Patrol officers were dispatched to the above address on reports of a man found deceased inside the home.  During the investigation, it was determined the victim had been living at the home.  He had sustained an apparent stab wound.
