Deer Park City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt a resolution opposing Senate Bill 715, which is being considered by the Texas Legislature.
The bill would make changes to rules regarding annexation of land by municipalities, including requiring voters in an area to be annexed to vote favorably for an annexation. Bill Text

The city council voted to approve a lease agreement with the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region.
The city is leasing property owned by the economic alliance at 203 Ivy Avenue.
The city council voted to appoint three members to the Boards and Commissions Selection Committee.
Council members Thane Harrison, Ron Martin and Rae Sinor were nominated by the mayor for appointment.
The city council voted to adopt a resolution finding that CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC's application for a rate increase for its distribution cost recovery factor should be denied.
CenterPoint has filed for an increase in revenues totaling $89,560,854 for its electricity service.
The Gulf Coast Coalition of Cities, a coalition of several cities, including Deer Park, has reviewed the increase and recommended members deny the filing.
