Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Sunday's fatal shooting of a man at 707 Greens Road.
 
Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 707 Greens Road

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 707 Greens Road about 11 p.m. on Sunday (May 7).

The identity of the victim, 31, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Senior Police Officer T. Andrade reported:

Residents heard gunshots in the area and then found the victim along a sidewalk between two apartment buildings at the above address.  Paramedics transported the victim to Houston Northwest Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

At this time, there is no known suspect(s) or motive in the shooting.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 400 Glenburnie

The fatal shooting of two males and the wounding of another male that occurred at 400 Glenburnie at about 2:15 a.m. on Saturday (May 6) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identities of the two deceased male victims is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Elsbury and Officer K.Elliott reported:

The resident of the above address was in the front yard when a maroon Nissan sedan, occupied with four male suspects, drove by and fired multiple gunshots at the male and his residence.  The male, who has a concealed handgun license, returned fire.  The suspects continued to fire as they fled down the street and then crashed the Nissan into another car. 

Several suspects then fled the vehicle and exchanged gunfire again with the male resident.  Three of the suspects were struck.  One was pronounced dead at the scene, a second was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased and the third was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.  A fourth suspect, who was not struck by gunfire, was detained at the scene.  The male resident of the home was not injured.  It is believed there are no additional suspects in this case.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Assault on a Police Officer at 2100 Bentworth

Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect wanted for firing shots at two HPD officers at 2100 Bentworth at about 10 p.m. on Saturday (May 6).

The suspect is described only as a black male in his mid-20s.  

Officer M. Frolik, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in this incident.  He is assigned to the Westside Patrol Division and was sworn in as an officer in August 2016.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Ruiz and Officers R. Gonzalez and N. Krupa reported:

Officer Frolik and his partner responded to a suspicious person with a weapon call at 11655 Briar Forest Drive. As  they cleared the call and began traveling down the 2100 block of Bentworth, they observed a male fitting the description of the suspect.  The officers pulled over and attempted to speak with the suspect, at which point he pulled a pistol from his clothing and fired at the officers.  Officer Frolik returned fire, discharging his weapon more than one time.  The suspect fled the location and remains at-large.  

As is customary in officer-involved shootings within the city limits, this incident is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.

Investigation into Male's Death at 12811 East Freeway

Houston police are investigating the death of a male found at 12811 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) at about 11 p.m. last Friday (May 5).

The identity of the male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Chebret and Senior Police Officer M. Waters II reported:

The on-duty clerk at the Citgo service station at the above address was notified by a customer of a male inside a vehicle in the station's parking lot who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound.  The clerk contacted 9-1-1 and the male was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

During the course of the investigation, it was found the deceased male may have been involved in a home invasion in the City of La Porte and was shot by the homeowner.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 9100 Tidwell

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 9100 Tidwell at about 4:25 a.m. on Sunday (May 7).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Thomas and Officer J. Hill reported:

The victim was driving a blue Ford Fusion westbound on Tidwell at a high rate of speed when he failed to maintain a single lane, lost control and struck a tree on the left passenger side.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  A female passenger was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
 

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2400 Eastex Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 2400 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) at about 11:45 on Saturday (May 6).

The identity of the male victim, 62, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer E. Morgado reported:

The victim was driving a silver Volvo 740 Turbo southbound on the Eastex Freeway when he veered to the right and struck the concrete barriers several times.  A witness stated it appeared the driver had suffered a medical episode.  The victim was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
