H-GAC Manager David Wurdlow explained that the Texas Department of Transportation sought the support for a swap that would enable the department to complete the financing needed for the State Highway 249 Toll project.

“The State Highway 249 has been a regional priority for us and our plans,” said Wurdlow.

He said that TXDOT that determined that the project is about $50 million short in the Grimes County segment.

TXDOT has identified an opportunity to exchange approximately $40 million of Category 2 Mobility Funding in relation to the I-45 South project, added Wurdlow.

“The (Texas Transportation) Commission has already previously contributed Clear Lanes Initiative Funding to other segments of this I-45 South project,” he stated.

The policy council voted unanimously to adopt an amendment to the 2016-2017 Unified Planning Work Program for the Houston-Galveston Transportation Management Area adjusting personnel budgets in Tasks 3, 4 and 5 to better reflect remaining activities.

All other agenda items were approved unanimously. Agenda
