Island Transit Bus #6 Involved in Collision While in Service

Galveston, Texas – At approximately 9:30am, the Island Transit bus servicing the #6 route was traveling east on Ave P was involved in a collision. The driver of a 2017 black Kia Forte was heading north on 30th Street and failed to stop at the Ave P causing the collision. The driver of the Kia Forte was cited for failure to yield. 

Eight passengers on the Island Transit bus, the driver of the bus, and the driver of the vehicle were all transported to for medical observation by emergency medical services to the University of Texas Medical Branch for treatment.

An additional Island Transit bus was brought in to service the #6 route.
