Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to appoint Bernie Daleo to the Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 Board of Directors.

Daleo, who replaces Tolbert Chisum, was nominated by Commissioner Eddie Arnold. Arnold introduced Daleo during the meeting. Listen (7:55)

The commissioners court voted unanimously to provide written notice to Port Arthur Independent School District to cancel the contract for the provision of truancy officers effective on the date approved by the school district.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an agreement between Port Arthur ISD and Precinct 2 Constable Christopher Bates relating to the Absent Student Assistance Program, with approval effective upon the cancellation of the prior agreement for ASAP services being performed by Constable Precinct 8.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve specifications for an invitation to bid for the Taxiway D Reconstruction Project at Jack Brooks Regional Airport. The project will be funded through a Federal Aviation Administration grant.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve the replacement of two chillers at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. Carrier Corporation was selected to replace the chillers, for a total cost of $239,534.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding the hearing of public comments for the restoration of the Saltwater Bayou System by diverting freshwater inflows pursuant to requirements of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a master services agreement with Athena Health for Athena Net services.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve the issuance of tax exempt bond financing to be undertaken by the Tarrant County Cultural Education Facilities Finance Corporation for the benefit of Buckner Retirement Services, Inc.

Buckner Retirement Services intends to finance and refinance the cost of expansion and improvements to the Calder Woods senior living community in Beaumont. The bonds would be issued in a principal amount not to exceed $75 million. The county is in no way obligated for repayment of the bonds or construction ownership or operation of the project.
