Shoreacres City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Shoreacres City Council on Monday voted unanimously to approve an agreement with the City of League City to establish a computer-aided dispatch records management and mobile computer system to service the Shoreacres Police Department.

The system is a cooperative administered by League City for several area police departments to serve their record needs.

The city council voted 4-1, with Ron Hoskins opposed, to reconsider and repeal the city's restrictions regarding the use of electronic messaging while driving a motor vehicle.

The item had been previously approved by city council, but was vetoed by Mayor Kim Sanford. With the rules repealed, the city will follow state law regarding the use of electronic devices in vehicles.

The city council voted unanimously to amend the city's Code of Ordinances to authorize the city manager to approve expenditures not exceeding $10,000.

The city council voted unanimously to allow the city manager to include subject matter on city council meeting agendas.

The city council voted 4-1, with Hoskins opposed, to provide the mayor, city council and employees with official city email addresses and accounts to be used for all city business purposes.

The city council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with the City of La Porte for jail and emergency dispatch services.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
