REYNOLDS FILES HCR 17 URGING CONGRESS TO PRESERVE THE PATIENT PROTECTION AND AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

"Access to affordable healthcare should not be a partisan issue. As per the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution, it is our right to promote the general welfare of the people. Within this right is the power to ensure each American has access to quality health care", states Reynolds.

Texas continues to lead the nation in number of uninsured residents. Among this large number of uninsured Texans are our most vulnerable citizens including children and seniors. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), or otherwise known as "Obamacare", is a landmark achievement that has enhanced the lives of millions of Americans by increasing both access to and quality of health care. Working class individuals who previously lacked access to affordable healthcare are no longer sentenced to medical bankruptcy because they suffer an unfortunate illness or injury. Further, the ACA has impacted the lives of over 1.7 million Texans, including children, who have gained health insurance coverage.

"I am pleased to announce the filing of House Concurrent Resolution 17 which urges the United States Congress to preserve the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Moreover, HCR 17 invites the Texas Secretary of State to forward copies of the resolution to the President of the United States and to be admitted in the U.S. Congressional Record as a memorial", said Reynolds. We must protect and promote the general welfare of the people by influencing our nation's lawmakers to continue the revolutionary Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
