Coast Guard medevacs man from tanker off Galveston

HOUSTONThe Coast Guard medevaced a 45-year-old man early Sunday morning from an oil/chemical tanker 32 miles southeast of Galveston.

At 12:15 a.m., a crewmember of the tanker Stolt Invention contacted Sector Houston Galveston watchstanders to report that a man aboard the tanker was suffering from a possible stroke and was nonambulatory.

An Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew arrived on scene at 2:06 a.m. and hoisted the man from the tanker.

At 3:15 a.m., the man was delivered to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

The man was reported to be in stable condition.
