Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to designate Larry Watts as negotiations representative for the county for contemplated negotiations with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Association.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to extend a contract with Pattillo, Brown and Hill, LLP, for auditing services for another year.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding approval of a 2-5 year additional warranty for the two new chillers at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. The proposed warranty would be through Carrier Corporation in the amount of $20,085.

County Judge Jeff Branick tabled the item to seek more quotes and consider a maintenance policy as opposed to a warranty. Listen (27:36)

The commissioners court heard public comments regarding the restoration of the saltwater bayou system by diverting freshwater inflows pursuant to the requirements of the United States Fish & Wildlife Service.

The commissioners court received a presentation acknowledging that the Jefferson County Historical Commission has been awarded the Texas Historical Commission’s Distinguished Service Award for its accomplishments during 2016.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution recognizing Ramon Rodriguez for 33 years of dedicated service as an Assistant District Attorney in the District Attorney’s Office and wishing him well in his endeavors. Resolution
