Thursday, July 20, 2017

The Texas City City Commission on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve, on final reading, an ordinance adjusting the city's water and sewer rates.

The rates had not been adjusted for several years. Base sewer rates will be increased from $2.55 per 1,000 gallons to $4 per 1,000 gallons, while base water rates will be increased from $6.75 for 2,000 gallons to $8.75 for 3,000 gallons.

Water usage in excess of the base amount will be charged on a tiered system, with residential accounts paying $4 per 1,000 gallons to 9,000 gallons, $6 per 1,000 gallons to 24,000 gallons and $8 per 1,000 gallons for usage exceeding 25,000 gallons.

The city commission voted to award a contract to Thompson Consulting for monitoring of disaster generated debris removal, management and related services.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present. Agenda
