REYNOLDS FILES LEGISLATION TO PROVIDE A FULL DAY OF PRE-KINDERGARTEN
TO ALL TEXAS CHILDREN

We have an opportunity with the Special Session to talk about real issues that matter to Texans. Our focus should be on classrooms, not bathrooms. I join my Democratic colleagues to address and work on "Real Solutions for All Texans". I have proudly filed HB 210 to provide a full day of Pre-K to all our school children in public schools.

Quality full-day Prekindergarten has significant, persistent benefits. Research has consistently shown that quality pre-kindergarten programs benefit not only individual students, but school districts and communities. I am honored to have filed HB 210, which will provide for a full day of prekindergarten in our public schools across Texas.

Students who attend full-day prekindergarten have greater skills when it comes to independent learning, classroom involvement and productivity in work with peers. Additional they have higher academic achievement in later grades, enhanced social, emotional and behavior development and have reduced retention and remediation rates.

Children unprepared for kindergarten tax the resources of the entire system. Overwhelmingly all the research demonstrates that high-quality pre-k increases a child's chances of succeeding in school and in life. They also have higher earnings as adults and are less likely to become dependent on welfare or involved with law enforcement. Investing in pre-k is a win for our children, our economy and our state

Ron Reynolds represents Texas House District 27, which encompasses communities of Fort Bend County. Representative Reynolds currently serves as a member of the House Committees on Elections and Environmental Regulations.
