Remembering Jim Guidry Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership
Galveston County
Kemah City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Thursday, July 20, 2017

Kemah City Council on Wednesday voted unanimously to propose a property tax rate of $0.219214 per $100 valuation for the 2017 Tax Year.

The rate is the same as the previous year. The city has not yet received calculations of the effective and rollback rates for Kemah for the coming year. A tax rate lower than the proposed rate may be adopted, but the city council may not adopt a tax rate exceeding the proposed rate.

The city council voted unanimously to schedule public hearings for August 16 and August 23 to receive comments on the proposed tax rate.

The city council voted unanimously to renew a employee health insurance contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The city council voted unanimously to table action regarding engineering design work for the intersection of FM 518 and Kemah Village to prepare for a second access drive into the Kemah Village subdivision.

The city council voted 4-0, with Matt Wiggins recusing himself from the vote, to approve a front and side building setback variance request for 705 7th Street.

The city council took no action regarding any necessary budget amendments.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
