Levi Fry’s Furman headed to Blocker Middle School

TEXAS CITY –Texas City ISD selected Levi Fry Intermediate School Principal Tony Furman as the new principal for Blocker Middle School for the 2017-2018 school year. Furman replaces Julie Southworth, who is the new Director of Secondary Education for TCISD. She was the Blocker Principal for the last 7 years.

Prior to his career with TCISD, he held several roles at an intermediate school in Pasadena ISD. There he fulfilled the roles of peer facilitator, social studies teacher and the social studies department chair. He obtained a Master of Science in Educational Management from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and his Bachelor of Science in Education from Winona State University in Minnesota. He is an active member of the Texas Middle School Association, Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association TEPSA and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).

“I have been so honored to lead Levi Fry for the past four years as principal and as an assistant principal for four years prior to that,” said Furman. “I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the teachers, staff, parents, and students that have helped lead Fry to so much growth and success.  I will miss them dearly and I know they will be in good hands.”

Furman is already in place at Blocker preparing for the upcoming school year. The District is in the hiring process now for a principal at Levi Fry Intermediate.

All of the latest central office administrators and campus administrators have been hired from within for the 2017-2018 school year.
