Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to approve an office lease agreement with Sun Travel Shuttle for office space in the Main Commercial Terminal at the Jack Brooks Regional Airport.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding the renewal of the lease of approximately 217 acres  for the county for a third year effective August 22.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a contract for arraignment services and all other duties to be performed by Judge Leonard Giblin, Jr., Judge Harold Plessala or other qualified magistrates for the period beginning October 1 and continuing through September 30, 2018.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding the proposed downgrade of a painter position to a utility maintenance position and the upgrade of an HVAC mechanic position.

The commissioners court voted tabled action regarding an agreement between the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and Port Neches Independent School District for use of up to 10 buses for the evacuation of inmates in case of an emergency. County Judge Jeff Branick asked that the item be made effective after the county's attorney has finalized changes to the agreement and other changes. However, the item was tabled until next week to resolve those items. Listen (7:02)

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a new interlocal agreement with the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission for 911 operations. The current contract expires on August 31. The new contract will extend the agreement through August 31, 2019 with no other changes.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Commissioners Brent Weaver and Michael Sinegal were absent. Agenda
