Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves

The Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves today voted unanimously to approve the beginning annual salary of the Port of Galveston's Director of Engineering, Maintenance and Environmental Affairs.

Interim Port Director Peter Simons offered the position to Humberto Leal on July 19. The proposed salary for said position is $125,000. Item Summary

The board approved a policy regarding meeting minutes for its meetings and those of its committees.

The board discussed but took no action on the following four items:

  • Discuss and consider porfolio performance analysis report, summary of investment performance report, and investment detail of the Galveston Wharves Pension Plan for the period ending June 30, 2017.
  • Discuss and consider board attendance at the 2017 annual meeting of the American Association of Port Authorities to be held in Long Beach, California October 1-4, 2017.
  • Receive report on port parking operations.
  • Discuss and consider pilot issues and the impact on the port's competitive position.
Earlier in the meeting, the board listened to presentations on an executive search firm for a port director from Susan Dvonch of Shey-Harding, Tom Lord of Seiden Krieger Associates, and Tim McNamara of Boyden Global. Listen (74:20)
