Galveston Park Board of Trustees

The Galveston Park Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve 3 percent merit increases for park board staff.

Staff had recommended increases of 3 percent for full and part time staff. The pay increase will total $110,325, bringing 2018 total wages to $4,493,239. Merit Increases

The board voted to re-elected Joyce Calver McLean as chair of the board. Spencer Priest was elected as vice chair and Maureen Patton as secretary/treasurer.

The board accepted appointments by McLean to various committees:

  • Tourism Development Advisory Committee: Marueen Patton, John Zendt, Will Wright and Victor Viser
  • Beach Management Advisory Committee: Viser, Rocky Sullivan
  • East End Lagoon Advisory Committee: Steven Creitz
  • Parks and Amenities Advisory Committee: Spencer Priest, Steven Creitz
  • Downtown Oversight Committee: Joyce Calver McLean, Patton
  • Finance Committee: Zendt, Sullivan, Priest, Wright and Viser

McLean also appointed Executive Director Kelly de Schaun to the Galveston Trolley Ad Hoc Committee, Priest to the Cavalla Historical Foundation, Mclean to the Moody Gardens Foundation, Priest to the Galveston Industrial Development Corporation, and McLean to the Galveston Island Convention Center Oversight Committee.

The board voted to approve an option for the beach cleaning vendor program to allow an unexpired permit transfer. The permit will be transferred by identified geographic stretches of the beach to a third party. The third party will be liable for activities that are undertaken under the permit in that area.
