City Aims to Build a Better Broadway Through Community Visioning Workshops

Galveston, Texas -  The City of Galveston is kicking off a plan to improve the Broadway Corridor.  This effort will envision immediate and long-term improvement strategies that build upon updated Broadway Design Guidelines underway by the Broadway Ad Hoc Committee.

The Broadway Corridor project will discover new land uses and redevelopment opportunities along the corridor, and identify tools and incentives that help existing property owners achieve improved standards. The plan will also recommend public right of way enhancements, such as multi-modal transportation, public art, holiday displays, lighting, and upgraded elements for improved function and aesthetics.

Our Building a Better Broadway process will be concurrent with an analysis of the possible expansion and creation of Galveston historical districts. Community engagement meetings will be held throughout the summer and fall of 2017.

Upcoming Workshops Open to the Public:

  • Broadway Business Owners - August 8, 2017 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at the Rosenberg Library in the Wortham Auditorium | 2310 Sealy Street, Galveston, Texas 77550
  • Broadway Stakeholders - August 15, 2017 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm - Rosenberg Library in the Wortham Auditorium | 2310 Sealy Street, Galveston, Texas 77550

Keep Up with the Project:

The City will be working with the consultant to keep all information about the project up to date on our website. Follow along atwww.galvestontx.gov/buildingabetterbroadway for the latest.
